The Experience

Throughout this experience and previous experiences I have learnt to work for clients but this project has been slightly different for me, as we have been working with and along side the Junction, rather than for them. I think that working with Simon Bates from the Junction has been a good experience, having regular meetings with him and bringing together ideas from both sides has helped us to produce a good product together.
This was quite different to working for Becky Young, in our commission project. Becky want specific things for her video and digipak and I was working to meet all of her needs and at the end of the day we were working to produce a product for her.
Within the interaction project, I have produced a documentary that will help educational companies and students to learn about the course and how we worked with Bournemouth and the Junction. This was brought together by bringing ideas from both the members of the Junction and feedback from both the Junction and Bournemouth University students.

I have learnt a lot from completing this project and I think that it will be useful to me within university and in future careers. I have learnt that working along side the Junction is a much more comfortable environment to work in, rather than the pressure of working for a client and you don't have many ideas yourself.

Comparing to Local Events - Junction Young Ambassadors

The Junction Young Ambassadors are a group of people from Cambridge, who help the Junction with their plans and decisions which are made towards making the venue a more youth-friendly place. They started this in March 2009 and they have also been included in a project before this, which involved working to design a new front Foyer for the Junction building and running something called a ‘Youth Summit' and they invited teens to participate in producing ideas for their summer event.

They are running a project at the moment, which is an event called ‘Takeover’, which runs on the 8th May 2010 and this is also targeted at young people. The event includes workshops, which are held within the Junction and these workshops have a variety of activities, such as, sound and lighting, spoken word, dance, beatboxing and digital imagery. The event will end in the evening with a dubstep DJ performing for the teens.

This interaction is quite similar to ours, in the way in which they are working with young people. Within working with the Junction, we are coming up with ideas together and talking with Simon Bates about our ideas. It was a collaboration between all of us and making the documentary helped us to promote what we are doing to young people.

Target Audience

As I am going to be working on making the documentary within this project, the target audience is slightly different than for the promotional video that the other groups are making. This documentary is aimed at students who would be looking to do the Creative and Media course and also the educational companies who are interested in learning about what we do. This means that we need to make sure that we reaching both audiences and giving them the right information that they would need. I shall also have to make sure that we show how we have worked with the Junction and Bournemouth University to finish this project and how working with them has helped the process of the project.

What is Interaction - Difference Between Interaction and Commission

This project which I am working on is called Interaction and it is slightly different to other projects which we have worked with other companies or people before. We have been asked by the Junction to produce some videos for them but this is unlike a commission project as we shall be working along side them on this project.
Within a commission, you are working for someone, meeting their needs, deadlines and working to their approval and making sure that you are delivering them a product which they are wanting.
Within a interaction, you may be completing a task or a product for someone or a company but you working with them. The Junction are helping us by involving Bournemouth University and Skill Set. Skill Set are going to be working with the Junction to fund a trip for us to go to Bournemouth University to work with the students there to edit some of the footage that we have gathered fro the videos. The Junction is also giving us some flexibility when filming at the Fiver event and also with some of the ideas that we have for the promotional video and the documentary.
