Comparing to Local Events - Junction Young Ambassadors

The Junction Young Ambassadors are a group of people from Cambridge, who help the Junction with their plans and decisions which are made towards making the venue a more youth-friendly place. They started this in March 2009 and they have also been included in a project before this, which involved working to design a new front Foyer for the Junction building and running something called a ‘Youth Summit' and they invited teens to participate in producing ideas for their summer event.

They are running a project at the moment, which is an event called ‘Takeover’, which runs on the 8th May 2010 and this is also targeted at young people. The event includes workshops, which are held within the Junction and these workshops have a variety of activities, such as, sound and lighting, spoken word, dance, beatboxing and digital imagery. The event will end in the evening with a dubstep DJ performing for the teens.

This interaction is quite similar to ours, in the way in which they are working with young people. Within working with the Junction, we are coming up with ideas together and talking with Simon Bates about our ideas. It was a collaboration between all of us and making the documentary helped us to promote what we are doing to young people.
