When producing any product, for any commission - or in general, you need to take into account all of the health and safety issues that may arise from making it. The majority of the issues that may arise are things that we will automatically be watching out for already. Such as, not dropping, damaging any equipment and making sure that all wires and cables are well out of the way so no one is likely to trip. We shall also be making sure that objects within the room/area that we shoot are well out of the way or there is a clear path so that people can get through easily without any injury. This will all apply for the shoot that we are having at the Junction for the Fiver but there are others issues that we need to take notice of.
When we were in a meeting with Simon, informing him of our ideas and questions we had, we asked if we able to use the cherry picker while we are on shoot at the Fiver gig in the Junction. As for health and safety, this was not allowed because there is a high chance that someone could hurt themselves or others while operating the picker.
As we are intending to shoot at the Junction and inside the venue, once everyone has arrived, it will get very crowded and quite warm within the room. This means that we would advice all members of our class who will be going to take water or to at least know where the nearest source is so that no one is likely to get dehydrated. Also because it will be crowded, this is another reason why we need to take special care with the equipment so that we do not damage it or harm anyone else in the venue with any wires. There will be a lot of people there and also back stage so we shall also have to make sure that we keep hold of the equipment at all times or leave it in the hands of another member of the Creative Media Diploma. This is because we will not be able to risk anyone stealing the equipment or knocking it over when it has been placed somewhere.
Health and Safety - At Bournemouth
We are also planning on shooting a bit of footage at Bournemouth when we go there for a trip to edit the footage we have already gathered. The same basic health and safety applies, when taking care of equipment and making sure that no wires or objects are in the way. However, there are other issues but not as many as shooting within the Junction. We will be working with computers for a lot of the day so we shall have to make sure that we get regular breaks from the screen so that we can get the work done efficiently.
We shall also have to make sure that we get permission from anyone who we chose to interview and to make sure that we are filming them within an area that the university allows us to.
